Number and main functions of teeth
In adolescence, there are at least 28 dental units. A pair of teeth in the upper and lower jaw grows until the age of 30, which in the end suggests that a person has only 32 teeth, but may not grow at all. This is influenced by the anatomical features of the human body. The last to appear are 4 wisdom teeth (third molars), but if they are absent, then there is nothing to worry about. In dental development, having 32 or 28 teeth in an adult’s mouth is normal. The presence of a complete set of teeth is rare, who can boast.
It is impossible not to pay attention to the appearance of wisdom teeth, because their eruption is accompanied by pain and other health problems. Often there is fever, swelling and pain in the gums, inflammation, accompanied by a runny nose, cough, headache and other symptoms. If they cut through incorrectly, then they are removed. Mostly they appear in pairs, but it is quite possible for one or three teeth to appear at the same time.
Why is it so important to know about the structure and take care of teeth throughout life? This organ in the human body is directly involved in such functions as nutrition, respiration, speech formation. The oral cavity is the beginning of the site of the digestion process, and a sufficient volume of salivation, stomach functions (secretory, motor) depend on the condition of the teeth. Poor chewing of food leads to disruption of the gastrointestinal tract. In the absence of teeth, not only speech is distorted, but facial features and the appearance of a person as a whole.
The structure of the teeth
With a standard generally accepted number of teeth of thirty-two units, the structure of the roots and the features of the canals should be noted. The standard set contains teeth such as incisors (1,2), canines (3), premolars (1,2) and molars (1,2,3). The central teeth in the lower and upper jaws are the central incisors, then the lateral incisors, then the canines, after which the molars and premolars. They have from one to five roots, and from one to eight canals. For each person, the number of channels, roots differ in structural features. There is, for example, finding several channels in one root. In order to clearly establish the number of teeth in the oral cavity of patients, in some cases, dentists resort to x-rays.
Prevention of teeth
To feel comfortable, be healthy and charm others with a dazzling smile, teeth require careful treatment and hygienic regular care throughout life. Experts recommend brushing your teeth at least twice a day, but not too often, as this is fraught with the destruction of enamel.
After eating, you should rinse your mouth, use floss (dental floss) to clean food debris between your teeth. An electric toothbrush effectively cleans plaque and helps to get rid of tartar formations. Simple procedures will help keep your teeth healthy for many years.
It should be remembered that a beautiful smile guarantees success and health to a person.
